Course Welcome and Overview
Welcome to Foundations for College Writing! Whether you're just taking a look around or seriously considering the course, I'm really glad you're here.
This course comes out of years of teaching in a lot of different settings: middle school, high school, public school, homeschooling, and work with students getting ready for college. It's also been shaped by good writing practice and by the insight of college professors who know what students will face next.
The goal is simple. I want students to step into college-level writing with more confidence, more skill, and a stronger sense of what good writing actually requires. So throughout the course, they'll get practical instruction, meaningful practice, and support in the craft, grammar, and mechanics of writing.
There are different ways to move through the course, depending on the level of support that fits your needs. One option is fully self-paced with AI-enhanced practice. Another includes that same foundation, plus opportunities for interaction and feedback from an experienced college-level writing professional.
Whatever brings you here, I hope this course encourages you and helps students feel more prepared for the work ahead. And if questions come up along the way, there are helpful resources and guidance built into the course to support you.
